Doctor's Recommendation For People Who Want Fasting

Late meal and an empty stomach is a big taboo for ulcer sufferers. But in the month of Ramadan, Muslims are required to not eat for 14 hours. And what about the people with ulcers? Can fasting?

To avoid excessive discomfort, ulcer patients are advised to consume gastric acid-suppressing drugs such as H2 receptor antagonist drugs (ranitidine, famotidine, simetidine, nizatidine) or proton pump inhibitors (omeprazole, lansoprazole, rabeprazole, esomeprazole, pantoprazole).

Food and drinks that need attention:

1. Avoid foods that contain lots of gas, such as fatty foods, vegetables, mustard greens and cabbage, jackfruit and bananas, food berserang (kedondong), dried fruit, and drinks that contain soda.

2. Avoid foods that stimulate gastric acid expenses, such as coffee, alcohol, white wine, citrus juice, and full cream milk.

3. Avoid foods that are difficult to digest, which can slow gastric emptying, such as tarts and cheese.

4. Avoid foods that directly damage the gastric wall, as it contains vinegar, spicy, pepper and herbs that stimulate.

5. Avoid foods that weaken the lower esophageal valve include alcohol, chocolate, high-fat and fried foods.

6. Some sources of carbohydrates should be avoided sticky rice, noodles, rice noodles, corn, cassava tubers, tales, lunkhead.
