Sex addiction Probably Not Real

Several Hollywood celebrities have admitted they had sex addiction, call Russell Brand, Kanye West, and golfer Tiger Woods. Inability to control themselves in matters of sex is often a reason for infidelity of spouse.

But according to one study, sexual addiction or hypersexuality likely never existed. Hypersexuality is not nervous or psychological disorders, but the sheer increase in sexual desire.

In that study involved 39 men and 13 women who had been diagnosed with sex addiction. They were shown pictures of sexy to trigger pleasant feelings and uncomfortable. At the same time their brain response when viewing these images were recorded.

The test method similar to that used to look at the brain's response when drug addicts are shown pictures of narcotics.

Narcotic addicts who saw the picture shows instantaneous changes in brain activity. Increased activity of the brain can be classified in the category of addiction.

But scientists do not see the same response at the time respondents were shown pictures of sexy. However, only a sex addict brain responses associated with the level of sexual desire.

"Hypersexuality does not appear to explain differences in sexual response of the brain, which appears is a libido that is too high," said co-author Nicole Prause of the University of California, Los Angeles.

Changes in brain activity could be a marker for determining whether or not sex can be categorized as an addiction just like drugs.

In the world of psychology, sex addiction issues are still debated. Is it true that these conditions can be classified as a disease. Even so quite a lot of clinics in the U.S. that offer treatment to overcome sex addiction.
