Studies conducted at St. Bonaventure University, New York, United States, shows that it is not necessary to eat pizza, pies, and cakes to improve mood. Because drawing food in addition to improving mood, this activity can also be done to help keep the weight remained stable, as reported by the Daily Mail, Wednesday (07/10/2013).
A total of 61 students were respondents in this study, with two-thirds are female. All randomly divided into 4 groups and given a colored pencil red, green, and black. Then, respondents were asked to draw a food that is put in front of them.
The first group was asked to draw a cupcake high-fat and high-sugar; second group was asked to draw a pizza; these three groups were asked to draw a strawberry, and a fourth group was asked to draw peppers.
When did the drawing, all students in a state of not eating. In addition to hunger levels, before and after 5 minutes they drew level was also measured mood and happiness. This method is used by psychologists to assess mood changes.
As a result, none of all groups feel more hungry after the drawing. But the result in mood changes gave significant results.
Drawing pizza improve their mood became more excited as much as 28 percent; draw a cupcake rose 27 percent, while drawing strawberry rose 22 percent, and to draw peppers increased 1 percent.
Based on these results, the researchers noted that because all respondents were given pencil of the same color, then this mood change is most likely due to differences in the type of food that is drawn.
The results of this study have been published in the Journal of Behavioural and Brain Science. It says that it has been proven see pictures of the food alone is a positive impact on a person's mood.
